I really enjoyed the pasta at Scorpacciata Van Aken, so I was eager to try the pizza from this ghost kitchen. Unfortunately, my experience with the kale pizza was disappointing. It was extremely salty and the crust was tough and dense, making it difficult to eat. The flavors of the toppings, such as pickled shallots, basil, and hot honey, were completely overpowered by the excessive saltiness. While I believe there is potential based on the exceptional pasta at the other location, if this pizza is a reflection of their overall quality, it may be a difficult fit.
I can only use one word to sum up this mushroom pizza... AMAZING! This restaurant operates out of a ghost kitchen located in the diner on Lee Rd. Placing an order was quick and easy, and it was ready on time. This was my first time trying their pizza and it was fantastic! I will definitely be returning.
I had a great experience with the pasta at Scorpacciata Van Aken, so I was looking forward to trying their pizza at this ghost kitchen. Unfortunately, my experience with the kale pizza was not as good. It was overly salty and the crust was incredibly tough and dense. The flavors of pickled shallots, basil, and hot honey were completely lost in the overwhelming saltiness. I believe there is potential for improvement, given the excellent pasta at their other location, but based on this pizza experience, I would not recommend it.
The restaurant is located within Rising Star Coffee and is a small pop-up pizza shop that offers truly delicious pizza. I hope they stay open there. The word "scorpacciata" in Italian means delicious. I ordered three 12-inch pizzas and they were quite filling. They offer a wide variety of toppings and unique combinations not typically seen on most pizza menus. It's definitely worth a try.
