Root Branch Bistro - Clermont

Had the shrimps and grits for Sunday brunch. Wow, they were excellent, but the pickled tomatoes took this dish to the next level. The pickled tomatoes added a taste that perfectly combed with the other ingredients, making this an excellent meal. I would definitely get the shrimps back. Big job cook.

That was our anniversary. I was pretty disappointed. The food was okay. Had the salmon that was good... perfect, it came with these cornmeal pancakes, they didn't add to the dish at all. My dish also contained 4 tasteless Okra pieces, it was so tasteless... not even salt. The chicken and dumplings were fine, hubby thought it was a small part and the chicken needed more to season, I liked it and the pea puree with the gnocchi. The experience also took some time and the bill was more than the written price on the menu... they took it off, but it was a good thing that I checked the bill. Incomprehensible that we had this experience for our anniversary...

This restaurant is one of the best in Clermont in terms of food quality and taste. I had the smash hamburger with truffle fries. My wife had the shrimp and grits. Both were superb. My wife is a Charleston girl so she knows shrimp and grits; and states these are among the best. We also shared the fried green tomatoes. Yum! You can?t go wrong dining at the Root and Branch.

We came because the reviews looked promising and we like to support local businesses. Unfortunately it wasn?t our night to have the 4/5 star meal. We waited for about 14-20 minutes for a table and about 30 minutes for our meal. We ordered the ?Beet Barbecue Chicken? and the ?award winning shrimp n grits.? Needless to say both were not cooked. There were raw or undercooked ?gray? shrimp and when we cut into the leg joint area blood came out. It was horrific and very disappointing. They prepared another shrimp n grits and the texture of the shrimp was like a cotton ball. I could not eat it. We ended up leaving and going to find fast food as we were very hungry at this point. I can?t imagine what went wrong but no restaurant should ever serve raw seafood or chicken.

We went for dinner. Fried green tomatoes are sensational and a must try. Drinks were good. Atmosphere was pleasant and clean. Good date place. Server was friendly and attentive. We had split wedge salad. They did it for us, that was cool. I had bbq chicken on polenta w broccolini. Very nicely done. Wife had steak. Great experience. Will return.
