Contribuiți la feedbackWhile staying in Rome, my wife and I decided to take the train to Civitavecchia and spend the day there. After some sightseeing, we started to look for a restaurant for lunch. To our dismay, everything was closed. It was a Wednesday in January; so, we didn't expect there to be a ton of choices. But, we were surprised that most restaurants were closed. So, we reluctantly made our way to La Ghiacciaia. Given its location overlooking the sea, I assumed that it would be touristy. In reality, it turned out to be a very authentic restaurant frequented by many of the locals. After being seated, we asked to see the lunch menu. There was none. The waitress told us that we could have a fixed price lunch for 20 euros or 30 euros depending on how many courses we wanted. She asked if we preferred fish or meat and the rest was basically up to the chef (She did ask if there were any foods that we did not like). In hindsight, it was one of the most memorable meals that we had during our stay. The seafood was fresh and nicely prepared. We couldn't have asked for a better lunch. Sometimes, it pays to take a chance.
My wife and I were in Civitavecchia to get a cruise. We had asked a local for a good sea food restaurant and were taken here. This is one fantastic restaurant. On the water, great view. I had Seafood Pasta and it was best I have ever eaten and I have eaten a lot. My wife had veggies and pasta which she loved. It was our first meal in Italy and were surprised that you can sit with glass of wine, for long time after eating and no one bothers you to leave, like a lot of restaurants back home in Canada. The service was great and once you have your food and wine they leave you alone unless you call the waiter over. We went there a second time as we were in town three nights. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
Mauro Spaziani
