Argentina is all about Empanadas and Pizza. I love empanadas, but the Argentine pizza can sometimes be overwhelming. I ordered a grande de mozzarella and basically it was 4 layers of cheese over a thick crust. I'm not saying it's bad to just make one observation.
If you are from the states, or Italy or most other places, you must be warned that pizza is good in Argentina, but not great. The crust is dense, almost like a chilled crust that could be bought in a store. The topics were better than the crust and there were generous chips of herbs above. The green salad was just a bowl of salad. The tomato salad was just a bowl of tomatoes. So? As cheap as the restaurant was, you can order both the green salad and the tomato salad and mix with some beautiful olive oil and vinegar. What was very good at this restaurant was the atmosphere great, high energy without being too loud, older waiters who had their aprons for decades, but served with some setting and yet so efficient and professional. The crowd was mostly young, but some AARP members whistled the tables. Everyone seemed to have such a good time that I didn't care about the pizza.
Believe it or not, Buenos Aires has more pizzerias per capita than Rome, so it is not unusual to find local people with pizzas very demanding. These guys offer you a very good pizza, but you need to consider that the place is... usually full, so it is not a good website to talk. Just go, take your pizza, enjoy it and talk elsewhere.
This pizza was decent, the service was not decent. It appeared one server was doing all the work while other servers were mostly pushing buttons on their phones. That just looks bad. The pizza? Well, I ordered one (a la piedra=thinner crust) with pineapple and...ham, which I love. They put cold whole sliced pineapple and cold ham on top of the hot pizza. Yuck. To make matters worst they added a maraschino cherry to each slice. It could have been so much better all hot (and no cherry, por favor). I imagine some of the other pizzas where all the ingredients are baked on it are much better. Everyone (mostly Portenos) rave about Argentine pizza rivaling Italian pizza. This is a farce.
