It's an ideal spot for a relaxing escape from the bustling city. You'll also find a charming little free library on the right side near the entrance, which is usually well-stocked. Just a heads up: if you visit in the evening, you might encounter some smoke from the neighboring bar, Lux Lounge.
Are you in search of a peaceful retreat? Look no further than Star Alley Park! Nestled in the heart of the South Wedge, it’s the perfect spot to savor your Hedonist ice cream, enjoy a sandwich from Harry G’s, or simply take some time for introspection. The park offers ample seating, dog bags for your furry friend, and bike parking. Plus, you'll be surrounded by stunning artwork, vibrant murals, and the delightful company of fellow visitors. One of my favorite pieces in the city, the "You’re a Shining Star" mural, adds to the charm, making it feel like you’ve stepped into a serene oasis as you enter through the gates. I can’t wait for my next visit to fully appreciate this wonderful neighborhood!
You enter through an ornate metal arch adorned with floral designs, setting the tone for the park’s charm. We spent a lovely time sitting at one of the picnic tables, chatting and soaking in the beautiful surroundings filled with colorful flowers. On a sunny day, it’s the perfect spot to bring your lunch and enjoy some peace and quiet. You can sip on tea, coffee, or soda while watching the birds take their dust baths in the garden. This gem is a fantastic addition to the community!
If people got stabbed a lot in here, it 'd be Scar Alley. And if a lot of drunken fights took place, it 'd be Spar Alley. While if weird diseases were common here, it would be SARS Alley. And if you had a Moga Tissue, then it 'd me Som Alley-a. I have only been here twice in my life. Once was by accident, and I thought, what a nice little place it is, I wonder why nobody is aware of it. The second time was when CM of Rochester Yelp Breanna brought all the ROC Yelpers (and me) out here for a super duper fun time. Everybody got naked and swing danced (which is a metaphor for unprotected sex) and shared picnic boxes (which is a metaphor for doing drugs). In fact none of this goes on with Yelp, but I have a feeling half of suburban America thinks it does. Especially Liam Neeson. I will find your packed lunch. And I will eat it. Other than the event, I should point out that this space is for anyone and everyone who wants to use it, and is absolutely lovely, especially in the summer. I wouldn 't hang out here in midwinter, but then I wouldn 't jump out of a plane without a parachute, but that doesn 't mean you can 't. One thing: look out for the ants.
This quaint little alley is a hidden gem in the South Wedge. I 've driven by it so many time and never realized it was there. Star Alley is an inviting and colorful little park next to Lux. Somebody put a lot of time into the murals on the building walls and the landscaping. They even have a dispenser of dog waste bags to pick up after your pup! We 've all been there when we realize we never replaced the bag roll that hangs on the leash! Star Alley is open to the public and a perfect place to eat ice cream or take-out from one of the surrounding shops. It was quiet and serene when I was there around 7pm on a Friday night. There are a few picnic tables to relax at and seems to be a good place to stop and chat with a friend.
