Contribuiți la feedbackThe restaurant has an excellent location and a fantastic atmosphere. It feels like a 1930s Prohibition Era Mafia Boss hangout, but with a modern twist on music selection. There are various drink options available, including cocktails and food, all at very reasonable prices. The house steak dinner, paired with a couple of house-selected pints, costs only 20 pounds. This restaurant offers great value for its historical location compared to competing local options. Highly recommended for anyone in the area and feeling hungry.
This restaurant is exactly what you would expect. It is a spacious pub with a wide variety of beers, a mezzanine, and friendly staff. However, the highlight is the small but charming beer garden, which is covered and heated, making it perfect for relaxing in the afternoon sun during the summer.
Great place! I had the tasting board and was very pleased. The chips were really good. My favourite ones I’ve had in a while. Kind staff and nice vibe.
This bustling pub provided our first meal in the UK, and what an appropriate introduction this was! Our server took great care of us. We were never kept wanting a drink and our food didn’t take long, either. My husband tried two beers while I had a Cornish cider from on tap. For my meal, I ordered 3 of the small plates: mozzarella and tomato salad (fresh ingredients and complemented everything else), Welsh rarebit with chutney (SO GOOD, and that chutney was divine), and one of their mini meat pies, steak and mushroom. My husband ordered the lamb pie, which was sublime thanks to the inclusion of mint—a combo I have read about but never had in America.
Wife and I stopped in for a bite during happy hour. Menu looked tasty with a good amount of options. Staff was friendly and helpful. By their adverts/menu, they prided themselves on their pies. I had their rabbit casserole which was good, but not worth writing home about (then again, I might have been spoiled by Grandma's). It came with mixed greens made up of peas, Spinach, and possibly cabbage (not 100% sure though) which was quite tasty. My spouse had one of there steak and ale pies but was NOT impressed. The taste was good but it had been way overcooked to the point that she couldn't cut into it with a knife. Half the meat inside had turned as hard as a rock and was inedible. Seemed like a nice local spot and would go back if we lived in the area. But we were only visiting, probably just had bad luck that night.
