La Poule Au Pot

Strolled past this place many times and thought about going in! I finally got round to it and was pleasantly surprised! Always wondered why it looked so dark inside! But its not because they don't pay their energy bills, its just a case of making a nosh-up more romantic! Had a beautiful French stew and apple tart with Chantilly cream into the bargain! Real French restaurant! Quelle surprise!!

You enter the most charming french restaurant with a true countryside ambiance. The menu is very traditional with coq au vin, onion soup, beef bourgignion and steak au frites clear favorites. You can order a la carte or 2 or 3 plats. The prices are very reasonable, the food delicious and the service very French.

As always the food in great and the service too. Prices are high but really worth it. Wines a bit overpriced but again worth the try. It s better ambience at night inside and outside for midday. There is a formule of 36gbp with many options to choose

We flew in from Dublin, checked into our hotel, and were starving for a decent meal by 4pm. We had a later rez but called and the owner said Yes, come now! So we walked over and let me tell you, what a fabulous experience! We were warmly greeted, immediately seated in the charming front room, and enjoyed one of the best meals during our 3 week stay in the UK. I had the house special (Poule au pot), my friend had steak frites. Perfection! Service was prompt and gracious. We felt very welcomed. Highly recommend.

Amazing food and very good service… loved the place!! Very cozy and authentic vibes. Overall 10/10 for everything……….
