99 Restaurants - City of Kingston

I had an excellent dining experience at this restaurant. The food was fantastic, and the service was outstanding. The staff was very attentive to mask mandates and did a wonderful job accommodating our large group of adults and two children. Jessica and Caitlin made us feel truly welcome. I will definitely return and highly recommend this place!

The food was quite good, but I had some significant issues with the service. First, the host tried to seat me, a solo diner, directly across from a table of five, despite there being empty seats at the bar and other parts of the restaurant. Anyone who has dined alone knows how awkward that can be. Fortunately, my server was very accommodating and friendly, so my concerns are more directed at the restaurant's efficiency. Once I moved to a different seat, things initially went smoothly, but then the soup arrived before my drink. When my drink, “Love Potion 99,” finally came, it was way too sweet. To top it off, I received a chicken bowl instead of the shrimp I ordered. As a pescatarian for the past seven years, that was quite unappetizing. The attached picture shows the shrimp bowl when it eventually arrived. The good news is that the shrimp was well-seasoned, the rice was cooked nicely, and they followed my request for no feta. I understand that miscommunication can happen—I used to be a server myself—but experiencing multiple issues like this in one visit is certainly disappointing.

For my main course, I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich, but it wasn't spicy at all. It did have sriracha sauce, but there wasn't enough to really taste it. On the plus side, the chicken was tender and juicy. My wife opted for the extra butter lobster roll, which could have benefited from a bit more toasting on the bun to allow the extra butter without making it soggy. We were also a bit disappointed that there wasn’t enough butter considering we paid an extra two dollars for it. Overall, it was a great experience, and we definitely plan on returning!

As good as 99 can be. The food was very good. The service was polite, quick and precise. We enjoyed our food and had a good time.

I was pleasantly surprised but at the same time did not appreciate having pieces of shell and the plastic clear part of the lobster in my roll. Nothing happened thankfully caught the pieces before eating. It's part of the creature but a little more care or better inspection before it reaches the consumer goes a long way. I enjoyed the flavor and had the drawn butter which is my suggestion for the lobster roll. The stuffed clam appetizer was very flavorful. I ordered a to go dish as well for my daughter and she enjoyed the chicken fajita thing. Lol. Not for me but I will go back again and try something else. I used to love the sirloin tips here but something changed years ago and stopped going. Maybe it's time for another try !
