Contribuiți la feedbackIt's been a while since I last visited, haha! I remember before they opened their Sacramento location, I used to stop by the Vallejo spot to pick up my cake. I even suggested they should open here in Sacramento, and look at us now! They have the best banana cream cake available every day!
Nations serves delicious hamburgers and a wide selection of cakes. Actually, the closure of Marie Callender’s seems to have benefited them, as more people are discovering how fantastic their pies are! The breakfast menu offers plenty of variety, and the food is prepared in a casual cafeteria style rather than a high-end restaurant vibe—it’s definitely a better choice overall. They also have simple options like hot dogs, grilled cheese, salmon, and chili. While the food might take a little time to arrive, it’s definitely worth the wait. The salads and tomatoes on the burgers are fresh, and the meat is flavorful. The fries are somewhat ordinary, but the onion rings are outstanding! It's wonderful to have Nations in our community!
The pies are way too sweet now. I could eat here every day; I love this place! But not today! During the 12 years I lived in the Bay Area, I mostly ate at the location on Broadway in Oakland and also at the one in Hayward by Highway 92. I never experienced cakes that were this excessively sweet! I couldn't even get anyone to come over to my house to enjoy it. Even the pecan pie tastes like someone dumped a bag of sugar on top! It's overwhelming!
I'm not a stranger for Nation's Giant Hamburgers when I visited many of their locations when I lived in the Bay Area. Since it was good for two decades (my last time at one of their locations was about 1998-99), I was fixed for my nation. This brings me to a trip to the Sunrise Marketplace in Citrus Heights, where I finally had the opportunity to taste their delicious burgers. Right at the lively Sunrise Blvd. and north of Madison Ave. in Citrus Heights, this nation's site has been located since the end of 2011. This is very surprising given the amount of restaurants that come and go; especially in this part of the city. I came here on Friday 8/27/2021 at 6:45. Parking was very easy to find and there was a ton of open places available. And many people may not know that; from the end of 2021, this is the only nation 's Giant Hamburgers in the Sacramento area with many of their locations in the Bay Area and a few locations in the San Joaquin Valley. As far as the interior goes, this place is very spacious. Since only another customer was present during my visit, the place had many seats with a considerable number of tables and stands. I look almost at the look and feel of this place that resembles a small modern diner; especially as they specialize in sweet treats like their famous cakes with over a dozen to choose from. They also have a large dedicated breakfast menu as well as chicken sandwiches, fish burgers, BLT 's, chili dogs, and of course what they are known for their standard burgers. Since I wanted the Burger experience, I went the simple route by ordering a simple hamburger with everything, a side of frits and a drink. The total price was around $12 (after tax). This place offers a self-contained well drink area and a conditioning station that includes ketchup and hot sauce. After my job was done, I was ready to find out if this place was as good as I remember. After the first bite the overall taste and taste was well above average. The burger was seasoned for perfection while the bungalow had the right amount of consistency. They also packed a ton of salad, onions, tomatoes and pimples (as available on request). The frits were soft on the inside with the correct amount of crabs on the outside. Overall, Nation's Giant Hamburgers was an above-average experience. The service was only average, as many of the employees really didn't conflict with me when I ordered or when I got my food. Remember that this part of the city has a competition with Smashburger and The Habit has less than 1/2 miles away. But for a delicious, generous burger, definitely give nation a try. My rating, a solid four stars.
My first time at Nation's after hearing about it for years and I got to say it's exactly what I thought it was. Fairly priced burgers, hot dogs, breakfast items and pie in a cozy diner setting. I ordered the regular hamburger and while I liked the size of the patty, it was hardly flavored at all. There's really no reason to come here over In-N-Out or Five Guys when they have tastier burgers for your $7. The pies weren't bad, but again nothing to write home about.
