Agriturismo La Pila

After visiting CastelBrando we had lunch at this family run Agriturismo and what a treat it was. We were very warmly welcomed with a bottle of Prosecco and warmed ourselves in front of the open fire and longingly salivated while we watched the steaks being cooked over the open flame. The spiedo is exceptional here but unfortunately we were a little late but the rest of the menu easily made up for it. We (four of us) had a range from menu and everything was really beautiful. The owner and all the staff were extremely warm and welcoming and made us feel at home. Definitely worth a visit

We have had the great pleasure and fortune to eat at La Pila on each of two trips (October 2018 large family Sunday lunch, and Dec 25, 2016 for an extended family Christmas Day 24-course sit down meal). Our 30-something adult kids still speak of the Christmas Day meal with wonder and enthusiasm. It was THE highlight of a trip which included eating in Milan, Florence and Venice. This is how my Nonna cooked and my Zias and my mother. This is authentic food grown on a family farm. This is the the joyous sound of family eating, laughing, telling stories from the meals of my childhood. This is authentic. The pork, quail, salads, bread, salumi, cheeses, sauces, pasta, vegetables, poultry, potatoes, giardinera, desserts, coffee ... Everything is perfectly prepared and seasoned. The family raise the animals and produce, they harvest it, prepare, cook and serve it. This commitment to a family farm is rare on any continent and we feel they should be embraced and supported. If you are in Venice, drive up (45 minutes) and eat here. If you are in Verona or Padua, we urge you to make the small effort for a remarkable and truly Veneto experience. We always go back. We stayed for a holiday with a group of boys. the structure has welcomed us with so cordiality and has made meetings to the different needs that we could have. the boys had a lot of fun, both for the place, as for the service offered. there was also a lot of attention to situations that perhaps required more care and kindness.

Devo dire che questo locale è sempre una sicurezza. Ci siamo tornati dopo mesi e confermiamo nuovamente le impressioni positive del passato. Questo è un vero agriturismo e lo confermano in primis la qualità dei prodotti serviti: niente fronzoli ma tanta sostanza per una cucina tradizionale ma con sorprendenti rivisitazioni. Bravi perché ci fate sentire come a casa!
