This is one of my favorite cafés in Wellington. Only down side is it can be very busy, buy that's because it's really good! : Generous serving sizes and most importantly friendly and polite staff!! :
Have been here a few times and food has always been good and flavoursome usually quite busy but fast service and not a long wait time for food. Will be back!
I've been here a couple times and the food has always been good. Better than that is the service. The staff here are always friendly and today on a rubbish Wellington weather day they took a coffee order over the phone and even carried the multiple coffees out to my car as I had a toddler in tow. I'll definitely be going back! (Great coffee too).
A popular café within Palmer’s garden centre in miramar. But can they make a cup of tea? This was my 11th stop, after Bon Gusto in Miramar in search of a decent cup.<br/ <br/ The most noticeable thing about this café was that it contained five times more people than the garden centre in which it resides. Clearly it is popular independently of the foliage.<br/ <br/ Slightly rumpty but cosy interior, cramped and warm with a gas heater going on one of Wellington’s rare cold days.<br/ <br/ Counter cabinet contained the usual cakes and slices with my eyes resting on a slice of Louise Cake. This is a traditional layering of shortcake, raspberry jam, coconut and meringue. A good one equals any pavlova in taste, and its NewZild pedigree equals that of the flabby meringue. The trick is to get the right balance between the layers. It is not as simple as it looks, and cafes vary wildly in their abilities to generate a good one.<br/ <br/ Only one black tea – English Breakfast Tea. So I ordered a Louise cake and an EBT.<br/ <br/ The demographics on midday Thursday were primarily middle aged and elderly women holding loud and rather interesting conversations.<br/ <br/ The Louise arrived quickly, delivered by a very nice young lady. The tea followed reasonably quickly.<br/ <br/ The tea was loose leaf in a small round pot. It came with a warm thick walled cappuccino cup and a small pot of milk. It poured a good colour, nice depth of flavor, malty with a gentle astringency and a nice sipping temperature. It had real character and “tasted like tea”. One of the first that I really enjoyed drinking. When asked, the lady told me it was t Leaf tea.<br/ <br/ The Louise was rather thick on the shortcake and thin on the jam. It was OK but not delicious.<br/ <br/ So for the tea:<br/ <br/ 1. Specialist tea offerings the variety of unflavoured teas): 1/5<br/ 2.
