North South Gourmet - Christchurch

I was pleasantly surprised by this Chinese restaurant. I didn't expect much from Christchurch, being from Auckland, but this Cantonese-style restaurant offers delicious food and generous portion sizes. We tried the Peking duck with pancakes, chicken with cashew nuts, a seafood tofu hotpot, and garlic sautéed beans. To top off our meal, we were treated to complimentary mung bean pudding. I left feeling completely satisfied!

The honey chicken is delicious! I really appreciate that they offer hot green tea, as it helps cleanse the palate between dishes. It can get a bit noisy during the busy hours, but that's typical for many restaurants.

This place makes good food, but portion sizes are smaller than a few other Chinese Restaurants that we frequent. Also prices are a little higher. But They still do good food and I can recommend. Friendly staff and good service.

We went here for a late dinner on Monday night. We went for their set menu $27 pp and also had their steamed blue cod fish for $50. All the foods were great. We enjoyed the fish, their soup and fried rice were really good too. Service was efficient and staffs were welcoming. Will def come back. :
