Alvarados Mexican Cantina

This is definitely the best Mexican restaurant in Christchurch. The staff is fantastic, and the atmosphere is wonderful as well. And they serve the best Margaritas!

Had a booking only to turn up and was shut no phone call to advise either

I ordered a Classic Margarita, but it was disappointing—lacked flavor and depth. The food was decent, but the highlight of the evening was definitely the drag queens, who were entertaining!

The service was outstanding, with the waitstaff being friendly and very accommodating when I requested a change to the filling in my enormous enchilada. While the food was decent, it was a bit bland for Mexican cuisine. I would have preferred some Mexican rice instead of the salad. Despite this, I would definitely return, as it’s a charming little spot.

I had a great experience dining here during the week. The food was fantastic, and the atmosphere was pleasant and serene. The staff were also very friendly, from what I remember.
