The Wild Rabbit - CHIPPING CAMPDEN

It’s a month since we visited The Wild Rabbit but I needed time to reflect and think how I should write this review. It’s the 6th time we stayed overnight and had dinner and every time it’s been perfect. The service from start to finish used to be excellent and quality of food amazing. Unfortunately that was not the case this time. And it sadden me to see how it changed for the worse. The customer service was non existing from front of house/reception and not interested in any conversation. At dinner we sat at the end table by the window and fireplace. We asked for advice reg wine but he said he didn’t know about the wines. We decided to order white wine and with the bucket so far away from us we where dependent on the waiter to top up. No bread was served or top up of wine so we had to speak to waiter twice to remind him but still no bread or wine. We tried to approach manager but with no success as no one knew what they where doing during service it was chaos. We waited 45 min for our starter with no bread or wine even though we suggested to bring wine closer so we could pour our wine ourself. Quality of food was not as good as we remember from previous times. Breakfast the following morning was not working as only one staff on shift for breakfast. The buffet table was not topped up and as we where depended on them to toast the bread it took a long long time for hot breakfast to be served. It’s not easy to write this review but I think it’s important and hopefully they will be addressed and dealt with. It felt like no one was in charged and took responsibility and therefore the whole service collapsed. I hope Wild Rabbit will come back and yet again when guests arrives will be greeted with a warm smile.

We stopped by for desert without a reservation and therefore the restaurant was fully booked. However, the bar menu looked great and so we went for that instead. It was excellent. We particularly liked the cheese menu, instead of being told what cheeses you’re going to have. A nice touch. Will be back to try the restaurant which looks fantastic.

My visit to the Wild Rabbit was a so disappointing, even though the food itself was interesting and top quality. The big problem was the exceedingly slow service. My starter took 1 hour to arrive. My main took another 45 minutes. When I looked around the other tables, no-one else was doing any eating either. The kitchen's output was negligible. Both of the staff to whom I mentioned this fully agreed that I was right to be annoyed and that it was totally unacceptable. My other point would be that the mains were very small, only slightly more than tasters. And the wine prices were ludicrous £12 for a 175mm glass of supermarket Malbec). So I could not say that the value was good even thought the food-quality was undeniable. I left feeling angry and ripped off. And blaming myself for having been so stupid as to go there.

The food is great but the portions are ridiculously small. Quality and prices are the same than the Dormy House. The big difference is that the Dormy portions are a lot bigger! I was still hungry after my main!! Something I really found so cheeky was we were entitled to 10% staff discount but after it was applied they charge you 12.5% service charge!!!! Thank you

This is a lovely pub but the service is shocking. Unless you are one of the many millionaire regulars they have in you will be left standing aimlessly at the bar while staff ignore you and when they do reluctantly get to you the prices are stupidly high
