Izakaya Ichiban - Chico

The red shrimp roll and the bidwell rolls are my favorite!! I order pickup because I prefer to have the eel sauce and spicy mayo cup added with it. I wish you could order them online but until then I guess I will have to continue doing pickup. I did knock off a star because the customer service is NOT there, there was no smile, no hello, no telling me thank you before I left. These are basic and simple things that should be done when someone is spending money at the establishment you work for. Sushi also is not cheap, show appreciation for your customers when they come in. It is really strange that the person working the desk couldn’t even be bothered to do simple IMPORTANT parts that should be extended to customers. I really didn’t feel appreciated on any way, not that it needs to be huge or anything, I believe that just a simple thank you would have made all the difference.

Everything was fantastic! One of my go-tos for Japanese food. I love their extended menu, plenty of options for all tastes. The Vegetable roll is exquisite. My family is from the east coast so I love a lox bagel in sushi form (Smoked Salmon Cream Cheese). The Japanese Taco is a revelation, whoever thought of that deserves a big smooch.

The food is delicious and the waiter is fast and polite. Clean restaurant. It can be a little loud when it's packed, but don't let it scare off. Large selection of brews as well. I would share a picture of my food, but it was so delicious I forgot to make a picture. Update: Try the Japanese tacos. OMG.

Since we couldn't eat inside due to the pandemic, the patio outside was very cute and well decorated. They also had water mists spraying during to the very hot days, it was nice. The food was very delish and I loved the cream melon soda. Their is a good enough portion of food in the bento box, very filling! I got the teriyaki salmon bento box, it was oh so delicious! The sushi is very tasty also. When I come visit Cali again, I'll definitely come back to this place.

We dined in. We happened to be very lucky when we went because it was in between busy times. We were able to seat at the mini bar at the back of the restaurant and had it all to ourselves. It was great. The server was really good and attentive. We had the sushi and it was very fresh and good. I love sushi and have been enjoying high quality sushi for over 30 years. Even some of the most expensive sushi bars in California. That was in the old days, unfortunately. I'm retired now however, for Chico California, this place is great! I highly recommend it.
