The Berghoff Restaurant - Chicago

The food was decent. I ordered the white fish with pea risotto. The fish was tasty, but the risotto was overcooked. The restaurant has a fantastic atmosphere and ambiance. They also have a great selection of beers. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

I had an amazing meal at The Berghoff with a great atmosphere. The waitstaff was friendly and honest, advising on which dishes would travel well. Unfortunately, my favorite apple and onion soup wasn't recommended for takeout, which was disappointing as my family loves it. I've been coming to The Berghoff since I was young and always suggest it for delicious German cuisine with traditional recipes. I can't comment on their alcoholic drinks, but the root beer was fantastic. My friend enjoyed the sauerbraten, and my deconstructed chicken cordon bleu was tasty. Don't forget to save room for dessert, as they make their own, and the black forest cake is a decadent choice.

I was part of a group touring the city and eating at this restaurant was included in our package. I had never heard of this famous restaurant before, but it must have stood out to have been founded in the late 1800s. I ordered the Sauerbraten dinner and it was absolutely fantastic. The beef was tender and served over a bed of real mashed potatoes, all topped with a delicious sweet and sour gravy. For dessert, I enjoyed a fresh Apple Strudel with a light and flakey crust. I also had a cup of coffee, which was a brand I hadn't seen in a while - Farmers Brother organic coffee. The service was exceptional and the decor of the restaurant was truly captivating. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the meal, service, and atmosphere.

If you like German food, this classic Chicago icon is a must go. The service is prompt and have a thorough knowledge of the menu. The locally made beer selection is outrageous in both the number and quality of the offerings. We had nice appetizer ofpotato pancakes, and wiener schnitzel and chicken schnitzel. Very very good.

Wonderful, fun dinner for 12 in their Chef's private room. We first stopped in their historic bar for a drink and a toast. David was our server and he was excellent! Everyone loved their dinner and followed it up with dessert and coffee. It was so nicebeing in this iconic restaurant. There is nothing pretentious. Just good people doing excellent work.
