Shanghai Inn - Chicago

I have been frequenting this restaurant for years after my shifts at Turin across the street. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The staff is also fantastic.

The food was good. Like standard Chinese you get in the city. I wish they served a little more rice. Egg roll was decent too. It was ready in 15-20 minutes.I can't critique on atmosphere as it was a pick up order. The place seemed designed from the late 90s.Service was alright. I entered with my service dog and the lady was a bit unfriendly because of that. It's a good place to get a quick bite to eat just don't bring your dog around if you don't want to upset the lady worker.

In my opinion, this restaurant serves some of the best Chinese food I have ever tasted. The portions are generous, and I especially love the Mongolian beef dish.

We ordered delivery so I cannot comment on the service or atmosphere. I had the Mongolian beef and my partner had the beef with broccoli (not pictured), and we also split some crab rangoons and egg rolls. The Mongolian beef was tasty and the portions were generous. We both ordered large so we could have leftovers for the next day. The beef was not chewy and had a good amount of vegetables mixed in. It was decent, but I may try something different next time. The crab rangoons were pretty good, with a generous amount of filling and a good size. They were crispy and had real crabmeat inside, unlike some other places that only use cream cheese. The egg rolls were also well-portioned and had a perfect crispiness level. The filling had average flavor, but overall they were enjoyable.

Reliably great dishes, most generous portions with fair pricing, quick delivery. Miles beyond the many over priced north side places. One of my favourites.
