This is one of the best McDonald's locations at Lincoln and Gunnison!
Secondly, the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. During a recent visit, there were two cashiers at the counter, but I was instructed to use the touchscreens. Unfortunately, all six touchscreens were out of order, so I eventually had to place my order in person. On another occasion, I watched employees come from the back to deliver orders while completely ignoring the two customers waiting at the registers to order. It seemed like the staff was making a conscious effort to avoid helping anyone. In yet another instance, I attempted to substitute iced coffee for hot coffee in a breakfast combo, but a staff member told me that wasn't allowed, even though I've done this without issue at other locations. Despite these many problems, there are a couple of positives. First, the interior is modern and newly renovated. Second, the restrooms are relatively clean. Overall, there are much better McDonald's options in Chicago, so I would recommend avoiding this location.
This is by far the worst place to get an ice cream cone. I paid $2.54 for what felt like the tiniest cone in the world. I was so frustrated that I almost threw it at the employee, but instead, I tossed it out the window. I'm not usually the type to react that way, but this has happened too many times at this location. It really seems like they don’t properly train their staff. Just a terrible experience overall.
This location should really consider closing down. They need to comply with FDA and Food Safety Administration standards because I've often received poorly cooked items, even when ordering simple menu items. I've had to spit out food multiple times on various occasions without being able to document those moments. What's worse is that my food consistently arrives cold, despite living less than five blocks away. Every time I've ordered, the food is cold. Having previously worked at McDonald's and cooked fries myself, I'm aware that food should be kept warm, yet it never is. When I opt for pickup, I'm often directed to a location at 3154 W Foster Ave, which means I have to take the CTA bus. This is an unfortunate waste of both my money and time, as the app continuously sends my orders to the location at 4844 N Lincoln Ave, where I've experienced repeated issues.
