Drove to 2537 Wabash to find beautiful black painted brick structure…could smell bbq, but place is all locked and gated up. No customer service. Disappointing!
The ordering experience was poor. The website doesn 't have links to any of the ordering services this restaurant must be using. So we called. After multiple phone prompts, we got an answer by a harried sounding woman who took our order and told us her card machine was not working. She said our order would be ready in 30 min. We were 11 min away so we drove there and waited in the car.At the agreed upon time, we went into the building to discover a big white room right out of a dystopian novel. There are lockers on one side, a bunch of ipads around the room and a counter behind glass with nobody there. We tried to sign in as directed, but the only way to do so requires you to enter the service used to place the order. I guess it 's supposed to direct drivers to the corresponding locker for the order. We didn 't use a service, so this was unhelpful. Eventually an attendant came to the window and tried to look up our order but it wasn 't in the system. She suggested we call the number we used to order. Two tries later, the harried woman answered the phone and sounded confused about whether we were in the correct location. After describing the room, she said she 'd bring out our order. We waited another 15 minutes before she arrived with our food. It 's a good thing we had exact change because there were no other options. When we got home and opened the boxes we were.... underwhelmed. The portions were small for the cost (see photos) and apparently a salmon entree is just that. Salmon. In a container. No sides, no bread, no salad. So the food was ok. Salmon was a bit overcooked, but it wasn 't too dry to eat. The peach cobbler was good. The fried potatoes were fried. And they were potatoes. So yes. They tasted like fried potatoes. Nothing was bad, but I wouldn 't call it exceptional either. The photos below (plus a strawberry lemonade that was delightful) represent $42 worth of food.
On Saturday night, I made a last-minute reservation at this restaurant, and it was fantastic! There's plenty of space, so it would be a great spot to visit with a larger group. They have some really interesting beers on tap, and the food is delicious. The shishito peppers were great, though I prefer them served simply. Still, they were wonderful, and I would definitely order them again. The spicy popcorn was also delicious, and I only wish I could have eaten more! Each of us...
We attempted to visit on Tuesday when they were supposedly open, but unfortunately, they were closed.
