Black Barrel Tavern Old Town - Chicago

We specifically asked the waitress to confirm with the kitchen whether the turkey burger was made with unseasoned meat, and she did. We were informed that the kitchen said it contained "zero" seasonings, which simply wasn't true! It was barely safe for someone with allergies to eat. If you're concerned about what’s in your food, I wouldn’t recommend this place. (We only had drinks, but the tram noise was surprisingly loud during our conversation.)

This restaurant was excellent. Both the food and service were fantastic.

We loved the Black Barrel. We chose it because my daughter had her dog with her and we wanted to sit outside. When we got there the owner told us we were more that welcome to sit outside but it was supposed to start raining in 10 minutes. So we chose to sit inside. They brought out a water bowl for the dog and a plate of watermelon slices. Max (the dog) happens to LOVE watermelon. He ate the first plate and they brought him another. Our food came out SUPER fast, I mean like five minutes after we ordered. Everything was delicious!

The service here is absolutely amazing! The overall place was beautiful and super cute! I definitely will be coming here again! I had the chicken Parmesan sandwich and it was so good! The drinks there are also good! I had margarita and it definitely hit the spot! Area around the restaurant is cute! I just loved it here so much!

The waitress didn’t mention that they had a draft beer selection, so I only noticed two IPA options listed among the bottles and cans. My husband ordered a chicken parmesan sandwich, but she brought him a buffalo chicken sandwich instead. We didn’t say anything, and he just went ahead and ate it. We’ll give it another shot next time.
