Here's a hint: at 7:00 on a Saturday night, there were only 3 tables occupied. The women next to us left, freeing up 2 tables. The couple next to us also left, leaving just 1 table occupied. When we left, there were no tables taken and no one waiting. The service was friendly but incredibly slow. Despite the restaurant being practically empty when we ordered, our 2 tapas took a long time to come out, and they didn't arrive together. The dates wrapped in bacon were a strange combination of sweet and salty. The bacon itself was tasteless, which was a mystery. The Patatas Bravas were hot but lacked crunch, resembling dough more than potatoes. The olives and cheese plate were decent. Despite billing themselves as a Tapas and Cocktail lounge, there was no drink menu or specialty beverages available. This restaurant should be thriving, given its location on the square, but it is in desperate need of a makeover.
Maybe it was an off night, but the server we had was definitely put out to have to be waiting on us. Their attitude was marked and odd, as we were an easy table with no unusual demands. The sangria we tried was quite nice. The tapas were good, I've had better, but they were solid. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time, but we won't return after being treated like we were some how beneath the server to have to deal with when we were friendly and didn't ask for anything special.
Our server/bartender was so welcoming, and the food was delicious.
Amazing spot! The cocktails were fantastic. I had a mojito and an smoked old fashioned and they were excellent. Our server was so pleasant and knowledgeable, she was truly fantastic. Robert was the highlight. ? Wish i was in Chicago for longer to try the food here!
