Zahid - Chesterfield

As an animal rights activist, I'm eager to help local restaurants add vegan options to accommodate new vegans. When I approached Zahid, they were enthusiastic about creating a vegan menu and are currently working on adding a dedicated section for vegan options. I'm hopeful they will include a vegan naan bread recipe, as that’s the only thing missing from their otherwise delicious offerings. The meal itself was a solid 10/10—perfectly cooked, not too oily, fresh, and served hot, with just the right level of spice for my palate. The portion sizes were generous, leaving me with plenty to enjoy the next day!

The food was quite good. I discussed the menu in detail with the staff, as they offer vegan options, though these aren't labeled on the menu at all. So, why only 3 stars? First, it takes time to go through each dish individually to find out if it can be made vegan. There’s a decent selection of main courses, but only two starters and boiled rice to accompany them. While we did enjoy the meal and appreciated that the kitchen keeps vegan options separate, it would be helpful if the menu were more accommodating. They also served raita (yogurt) with our poppadoms.

Zahid were really keen to work on a vegan menu when I approached them, and are in the process of getting the menus reprinted with a section especially for vegan options. Hopefully they will add a vegan recipe Naan bread soon as that was the only thing missing from this delicious food. The food itself was easily a 10/10 it wasn’t too oily it was fresh and hot just the right spice level for me and the portion sizes were large had left overs for the following day!

I dined with some non-vegan friends and had a great time! The food was delicious and very affordable.
