Not a huge menu but what they do, they do right. Hidden gem. We were driving home from the outlets and took a chance. Glad we did. Excellent meal at a reasonable price.
Take a hike and grab a bite. If you find yourself out this way you will be rewarded with delicious food, drinks, and friendly staff. Turns out Wyld Thyme is a sister to a successful restaurant in Lee, MA, Perigee. Overall a super delicious and affordable. New Yorkers seem to enjoy this gem after the theater. But we represented the more local, down to earth, leaf peeping clientele with an extreme palette. We always seek the good life and the good food. We peaked into restaurant from the welcoming teal painted double-decker porch and saw mason jars gracing the tables. Not having seen a menu until seated we wondered if this could really live up to our expectations? Opening the menu we looked at each other and smiled, realizing that there were several mouth watering choices! Let's start with the duck confit bahn mi. The duck was succulent in fresh crusty bread. The daikon radish and pickled carrot added a fresh zip. It wasn't a traditional bahn mi and could have benefited from cucumber and cilantro. The thick cut house potato chips were delicious and we especially liked when dipped them in a side of chipotle remoulade mayo sauce. The white chicken chili with navy beans and topped with cheddar cheese was warm and just right after a fall foliage hike. Accompanied by the Wyld Salad with bacon and gorgonzola. The menu at Wyld Thyme is diverse and although we didn't have our children with us this trip, we plan to come back with friends and more family. Great place for those tired of the Northampton scene, closer than the Dream Away and arguably better food. Now that the theater season is over, we're wondering what the draw will be. Live music? Poetry? Winter snow shoeing? Bring the talent.
In Chester??? I thought this was going to be another rough-around-the-edges local joint. Not! Classics with personality, adventurous combinations and stick-to-your-ribs belly-fillers. Pulled pork kale cups? Um, yes please. The cocktails are so inexpensive and the burger menu lets you be your own beefy Picasso. Can't wait to come back.
