Rope Loft Dining Room - Chester

We’d visited the Rope Loft in 2019 and were keen to visit again. We turned up on a very busy holiday Monday and we’re added to the waiting list. We only waited 10mins max The staff seemed stretched but all coping magnificently, in spite of impatient customers generally. We were seated in the perfect position at the end of the dock and our server was really lovely We had the same food as last time seafood chowder for my other half and lobster roll for me. Washed down with a nice glass of white It was a lovely 90mins or so and I’d highly recommend this place

The Rope Loft has a fantastic two level deck on the harbor in Chester. It is a very pleasant place to spend a couple of hours watching the boats and the scenery. Our dinner was great and we can recommend the calamari as a starter and the shellfish risotto and the lobster-shrimp roll as main courses. This is a very popular spot and they do not take reservations (except for large groups) so go early if you do not want to disappointed.

Very disappointed in the Lobster Roll. The lobster tasted like it had been frozen old. I could not finish it. The Caesar Salad I ordered for $5. to replace fries, was delicious, but very small. We were a group of 4. No one found their food anything exceptional. The batter on the fish was soggy. Chips were good. My last time there. They did give me a 12% discount, as I could not that disgusting lobster. However, I won't go back.

Sat on the dock and were able to watch boats coming and going in the harbour. Service was excellent and the food very tasty.

My husband and I went for a late lunch at the Rope Loft. We went there for 2 reasons. First, because of the location on the beautiful waterfront of Chester. Secondly, the reviews of the food. The restaurant itself was very nice and beautifully located right on the water. Our table was outside and we so enjoyed the atmosphere and the scenery. However, then it came to the food. Well lets say it was less then desirable. Our mussels were over cooked and the bread portion well was size of have a small hot dog bun. We both had as our main a one piece fish and chips. The fish looked and tasted like it was frozen boxed fish. This one piece fish and chips was $18 which we have no problem with but lets get what we are paying for. We are from NS so we know what fish is supposed to taste like and its not supposed to taste like boxed fish. Very disappointed as this was the worst meal we had in Chester. The next day we went to the Island View Family Restaurant just outside of Chester and I would give the food a 5 star. The fish was outstanding. Rope Loft you need to step up your game. I would like the thank Ella our server who was wonderful and very friendly. She was a delight.
