Stanley Arms

Visited here having moored on the canal. Easy to get to, just across the bridge. Lovely meals, fresh and hot! Well worth a visit.

Last minute decision to eat out called in to the Stanley Arms in Anderton were we've regularly met up with friends for drinks. As always the staff gave us a warm welcome we had a choice of tables as it was a Monday...evening and fairly quiet in the pub. The menu offered a good selection at reasonable prices. After deliberation we chose to go straight to mains ordering a chicken sizzling platter in teriyaki sauce with half rice/half chips plus a beer battered cod and chunky chips with mushy peas. We didn't have to wait too long before the food arrived both dishes looked good. Appearances weren't deceptive both meals being very tasty. The fish was a good size with nice crispy batter, plenty of chips and good portion of mushy peas. The platter was tasty and plentiful all well cooked, nice side salad too. Staff were attentive enough without being obtrusive and,as we've become accustomed, very friendly too. A very enjoyable meal but we were full so didn't have room for a dessert. We'll be back and not just for drinks will recommend to our friends that they give the food a try too.

Been for Sunday lunch today, can i say, best beef dinner i have had in a very long time, young staff that served our food were so pleasant and much be a credit to their parents, thank you x

I hadn't been to this restaurant since before the pandemic, so it was nice to return. The food has actually gotten better and there are more options on the menu now. The service was very friendly and the prices were reasonable. I am excited to come back in the summer and enjoy the large beer garden!

The restaurant is fantastic, with excellent food and the waiter Andrew was very friendly. The steak and ale pie was delicious. I will definitely be coming back!
