If you enjoy visiting historical pubs, then this is a must-visit! I have never been to a place where I have talked so much to my family and friends about its history and paranormal activity. The barmaid was friendly and welcoming, showing my partner and me around different areas of the pub and sharing information about its past. The landlord was great in telling us about the interesting experiences he has had and really captured our attention. We are very thankful for the experience they provided us. The pub itself is a classic English pub with a rich history. It is not a fancy gastro pub, but it has its own unique quirks that help preserve its historical charm. The drinks were excellent with plenty of options to choose from. We will definitely be returning again! Thank you to the team at Bate Hall in Macclesfield!

I had a great time having a few drinks at this restaurant on Monday. It definitely made my Monday more enjoyable. The staff was incredibly friendly and took the time to share the pub's history with us. It was a fantastic experience and much appreciated. Special thanks to the knowledgeable and friendly landlord and the welcoming barmaid. The beer was also excellent!

While strolling through Macclesfield, we happened upon this pub. Despite its long history, it seems to be lacking in potential. There are always people loitering outside on Chestergate. Inside, we were greeted with a sticky table in a dimly lit back room, with rowdy children running around. The only redeeming quality was the consistently great Marston's Pedigree beer.

Went in this pub just to get out of the heavy rain,Glad we did,Lovely pint of real ale and a tasty lunch,Comfortable and warm dining area.Next time we are in Macclesfield we will call again.
