Service started out OK but deteriorated rapidly as the place got moderately busy. Looked like only two people running front of house and takeaways and they were stretched too thin.
This local icon has been in business for decades in Beaumaris. It is still very much a 60s - 70s style Chinese restaurant, the staff are friendly and attentive but the food is average. We have eaten here a number of times and always leave feeling under whelmed. It is cheap enough and well patronised by the locals but it is true that you get what you pay for.The San Choi Bou was terrible and tasteless, don't think we'll bother again.
My family regularly patronise this delightful local Chinese Restaurant. It provides excellent Chinese cuisine and wonderful service. Families are always welcome and they will make your special occasion very memorable. It has been in business for over 40 years and has great reviews and a strong customer base. "Do yourself a favour". :)
Staff friendly but food was awful.I have had takeaway before and it tasted like it was microwaved not great .Tonight we couldn't get into our normal Beaumaris Chinese restaurant so ended up here.My partner ordered the xo succulent prawns. He said they were ok but not outstanding.I ordered the special Chung Chicken with Asian greens and Cantonese sauce. It was terrible.........It looked like chicken and vegetables with more onion and corn than green .The fried rice was dry and flavourless and even after explaining that there were no asian greens i was told "Yes" snow pea{of which there were 4.It cost $70 and wasnt worth a penny of it .Will definitely NOT be back ...Owner wasnt bothered at all when i explained it was very ordinary just smiled
There is a definite feeling of the genuine Chinese experience about Sing Tao: the layout and decor gives the ambience of a restaurant in (say) Hong Kong, rather than bayside Beaumaris. Service is family style friendly and warm.We opted for the two course lunch special with glass of (reasonabe) wine. The fried Wontons were really good as was the (warm) dipping sauce, but I would not recommend the Chicken Wings which were mostly skin, heavy on oil and short on meat. The main of Rockling Fillets had a great sauce with a good serve of rice to "mop" it up. Similarly the Chicken with Almonds and Cashews was enjoyable. At $18.50 per head, this is not a bad occasional lunch option
