Zizzi Cheltenham

We arrived just before our reservation time and had to wait five minutes while the hostess tried to locate our booking. After we were seated, we waited over 20 minutes, but no one came to take our drink order. After that long wait, we decided to leave. It's a shame, especially since this was a special Valentine's meal, and the restaurant was beautifully decorated. The poor service really marred the experience. Fortunately, there are many other lovely restaurants nearby.

Zizzi was booked through OpenTable for 7 PM, but when we arrived, they had no record of our reservation. As a result, we didn’t get a good table, and they were unaware that it was my daughter’s birthday, so we didn’t receive any birthday candles. We ended up waiting an hour for our food, and the chips were missing, only arriving when we were almost done with everything else. We often had to get up to request more drinks, salt, and pepper, as no one came to check on us. I ordered a coconut sundae for dessert, but after waiting over 20 minutes, I received a banana lime sorbet instead. The service was awful, and the food was just average when it finally arrived. We paid £103 for four people, which really wasn’t worth it!

The highlight of this restaurant is its stunning location in an old church. The food was enjoyable as well, but the real star of the show is definitely the building itself!

Initially the service was ok, but we waited over half an hour to place an order for our dessert; in the end we gave up and decided to get the bill; it took over 10 minutes to get the attention of the waiter.

Reason for low score is due to having to wait nearer 2 hours for our food due to the staff “forgetting” to put our order through. Being sat there for so long waiting before it was even realised you would have thought with relevant care and attention someone would have noticed. Although we got some discount in the end after a number of conversations it didn’t seem to much of a big deal that we had waited nearer 2 hours.
