However, I found the prices at this restaurant to be exorbitant, even by Cheltenham standards! The scones were oddly dense and had a bread-like texture that I had never experienced before. Despite the friendly service, I was disappointed with the food and the high prices.
This restaurant has a charming pink and sparkly atmosphere. The staff were friendly and the overall ambience was great. However, I was a bit disappointed with the food. My 85-year-old mother ordered a Coronation Chicken Sandwich for £10.50, which came with no salad garnish. I ordered the Stow afternoon tea for £21.95, which also included the Coronation Chicken sandwich, a scone with a small pot of clotted cream, and a mini pot of jam. My daughter's jacket potato with beans and cheese was £11.95 and came with a small leaf garnish. The food was okay but nothing special. The highlight was the chocolate milkshake, which tasted amazing. However, at £7.50 each, it was quite expensive. Overall, I felt like I had overpaid for a mediocre meal and would prefer to visit a more affordable restaurant next time.
We decided to grab a bite at this charming Café located inside John Lewis. The staff was friendly and the avocado eggs that my friend and I shared were delicious. We will definitely be back before Christmas!
A very smart cafe in John Lewis. We had cups of tea and shared a piece of Victoria sponge which was delicious. Very enjoyable but perhaps a bit pricey but it was John Lewis and it was Cheltenham!!
We’ve visited here regularly over the last few years but have been stunned by the price increases recently , so much so that we’d hesitate to return soon . Always appreciated the friendly efficient service from the loyal members of staff but just recently standards from others have slipped which combined with the expensive menu is a real shame . £17.25 for two teas and an eclair lemon drizzle just too much . I appreciate underlying trading costs have to be passed on but there is a limit to how much one is willing to pays .
