Timberwood Tap House - Charlottesville

This is a great spot to take a break for lunch when traveling through Virginia from the Quantico area to Virginia Tech. It's conveniently located near UVA and easily accessible from Interstate 64. We brought our dogs along, so we dined outside, which had a lovely shaded area and a pleasant atmosphere. The host was very welcoming and seated us right away. Several servers came by to check in on us and to greet our dogs. The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. We enjoyed it so much that we didn't have any leftovers since we were heading back home.

The restaurant is clean, but they often run out of menu items. I was taken aback when I ordered a glass of wine for $8.50 and received only a quarter of a glass. Seriously? When I asked the bartender about it, their response was indifferent. The soup was also lukewarm. I had high hopes for this place from my previous visit, but I'm disappointed now. I won’t be coming back again.

We dropped in for a snack while traveling and tried the late-night menu. We ordered the crab dip and the tap house wings. The crab dip was quite flavorful; I just wished there was a bit more crab in it, but overall it was good. The wings were delicious, and we shared the ancho-chile garlic and crazy hot varieties. We liked both, but I absolutely loved the flavor of the crazy hot wings. If you enjoy spicy food, you definitely have to try the crazy hot wings! Lastly, the bleu cheese and ranch were...

Where to begin....no greeting at the door. A departing customer said someone should probably come soon. We were seated at a dirty table, (sticky food residue) asked to be moved to a clean one. Husband had to go find someone and ask if we had a server (twice). Finally got beverages after 25 min. (I would have left but we had been traveling for hours with 86 yr old mother) Wing appetizer was good. Had to ask for plates. Reuben was as flat as a grilled cheese. Mother ate 2

A quintessential American dining experience with top-notch quality! The classic cheeseburger blew me away! Everything from the wings to the beer selection was perfect. Plus, there’s ample seating on the spacious terrace. The service deserves a solid 10 out of 5 stars!!
