Grit Coffee - Charlottesville

I always love the breakfast burrito and espresso here. It gets quite busy on Sunday mornings. The staff is very friendly. There's limited seating in the front area, but the large back room and outdoor seating provide more options.

During our morning stroll to the downtown Pedestrian Mall in search of coffee from our hotel, we were welcomed by two hardworking women at the café. They were truly on the move—the place was bustling! Despite the crowd, their friendliness stood out. There’s a small standing area for waiting for orders, plenty of seating in the back room, several bar stools at the counter, and outdoor seating as well. We waited for over 15 minutes for our drinks. In the roughly 20 minutes we spent in the shop from entering to leaving, the barista didn’t stop working once.

I was quite disappointed with my visit. I ordered a spooky boo latte, but it arrived lukewarm at best and had very little flavor. The staff appeared to be disorganized, and the cashier left the register for at least five minutes to label cups, completely ignoring the line of waiting customers. *I have updated my review to 3 stars to reflect their follow-up on my experience, which I appreciate.

Went here Sunday morning. Read good reviews and saw a long line so I assumed coffee was good. Ordered a spooky bear latte and a hot chocolate for my husband. The latte wasn?t hot, I know they were busy but I?d be patient for my latte to come as ordered. My husbands hot chocolate he said was really bad, didn?t taste much chocolate and when we took the lid off to look it was barely darker than just milk. I could tell they were short staffed and I feel bad leaving this review

I have been going to this Grit location for years and it?s usually a great experience. Yesterday, I ordered a ?macchiato? and got a blank stare. The barista said, with an attitude, ?We?ll just make you a latte?, which is not what I wanted. Have never had a barista not know how to make a ?macchiato? ! ??
