Old Hickory House - Charlotte

Because I am an expert on NC BBQ (along with about 2,000,000 others)... I can state that OHH is the best. Always my first stop when I fly into CLT. from California and my last stop before I leave. Stew is perfect, hush puppies should be smaller and cooked at a higher temp to avoid a little extra oil in the surface. Chicken...great. Pork fantastic.. the best. Sauce is more in the western style and is optional, but recommended.

I think this is by far the best place for BBQ in Charlotte that I've had so far. I've tried several places around Charlotte and can't seem to find good BBQ. The BBQ sauce is a little different. It looks like it has meat in it but its very tasty. The pork has great taste and it looked freshly chopped. The Brunswick stew is good too. Baked Beans are good, a bit on the sweet side. The slaw is very good too. The staff is friendly. You can see the BBQ pit and the meat while it’s smoking.

They have the best BBQ hands down. I've had Memphis, Texas, Shelby, Lexington, etc. This is the best in the U.S.!!!

Been going here since I was a child and have never had better Brunswick stew in my life! BBQ ribs are great, but the stew is the best!!
