Corkbuzz Restaurant & Wine Bar - Charlotte

Lovely ambience, not too noisy but happening feel. They imply that wine is their thing, but we felt sidelined when we asked for a glass each and not a bottle, not given any choice just do you want adidic, buttery etc, actually would prefer to see a list, but guess you just have to have what is open. Menu is ‘small plates’ that are served as soon as they are ready so if you are not sharing and want to eat together then you have to ask to do so, the small plates are a combination of entrees and sides not tapas so this really does not work if they were to come at different times, not sure if they do this to be trendy or for the convenience of the kitchen but to be fair, they did accommodate us when we asked if we could have it at the same time and we suggest you do the same. Think staff could do with a little more knowledge. Overall they have the ambience spot on, just need to step up the food quality slightly, for example the seasonal tart was mediocre, overcooked pastry and just a few slivers of veg, on whipped goats cheese, needed more veg and the veg needed to be oven roasted and charred, it was neither of these and how much nicer just to have a slice of proper goats cheese on top, than whipped, felt like i was eating processed cheese, other dishes were better. Feel they need to become customer centric and it is very much a wine bar with food rather than a restaurant. Might visit again because lovely atmosphere and lots of potential, but would sit at bar and order more wine than food, which I guess is what they do well, our mistake was going there to eat rather than going there to drink.

Excellent, savvy service and delicious set of five small plates. Late dining (9:30) made for a far quieter environment than used to at this venue. We'll be back.

Food and wine are always great! They recently changed menu to small plates, which were good but pricey. Some are more an entree type, liked it better with standard menu.

First time there. Waitress was great. Food excellent and a bit funky in a good way. Great wine list. Small and intimate.
