It's basically a ship that's been plonked in a car park, its actually quite comical when you first arrive! The interior is equally as impressive, they certainly didn't scrimp on the decor and I almost expected to feel a little sea sick! When we first arrived the were few others, the service was prompt and the staff were friendly... The manager (I think he was the manager) spoke very good English which was a blessing because my French is rubbish and mostly involves a lot of pointing (I am working on it, but it remains an embarrassment).... I had a pizza, which was really tasty... Even though it had potatoes on it (which I have always thought was odd)... The food was reasonably priced, the atmosphere is nice and cosy. My only criticism was that during the course of the evening it got quite a lot busier, the staff became much less attentive. They seemed very rushed and to be honest we felt a little ignored. However, if I was in the area again I would return to give it another go and I would recommend to a friend.
Four of us chose to eat here on Friday night. While on holiday and staying in nearby Poix Terron we needed to find a restaurant suitable for two meat eaters and two vegetarians. As usual we turned to TripAdvisor to help us to find somewhere that met our requirements and we came across Le Galion in Charleville Mezieres. My husband booked a table for 7pm through the restaurant's website the day before and although we never received confirmation of the booking we turned up anyway. On arrival there weren't many cars on the car park and the restaurant is certainly unique looking which briefly concerned a couple of our party. However I was so keen we decided to continue and I'm glad that we did. The theming of Le Galion is fantastic! Inside so much detail has gone into making it look and feel as though you are on a pirate ship. There are pirates, parrots and cannons. We were all really impressed and it's definitely different from anything any of us had experienced before. We were one of only a couple of tables in the restaurant at 7pm. We were greeted by our server and then shown to a booth style table by a window. We were told by our server that the menu was in French but he had no problem translating anything for us. The menu was really good and full of choice for everyone. My husband and brother in law shared a La Planche du Galion which they both enjoyed, while myself and future sister in law both ordered pizzas. When it came to ordering our food our server was very helpful and offered to customise our pizzas and so we both ended up ordering exactly what we wanted. The only downside to our visit was that once the restaurant started to get busier our table was ignored for the rest of the evening, yet there were plenty of staff waiting tables. The service we received started off so good but then soon fizzled out. Nobody ever came to ask us how our food was or if we needed anything. We were never approached to order more drinks and it took ages for a member of our party to catch the eye of our server to order another drink. By then we had all finished our meals! Overall all of us absolutely loved the uniqueness of Le Galion and the quality of the food was fantastic I thoroughly enjoyed my pizza and fries! It's just such a shame the service was not up to the same standard.
Visited Le Galion after finding it on TripAdvisor. It was fairly local to where we were staying, had an English version of their website and was bookable online. All very helpful to non-native speakers. On arrival you can 't help but notice the Pirate theming. Brilliant, really liked it, what a novel experience, Food was very good, my brother and I shared the 2 person La Planche du Galion . Good, well cooked pieces of meat that were all thoroughly enjoyed. Our better halves opted for Pizzas which our server was all too happy to customise for them. Food all arrived promptly and everyone in the party enjoyed it. The only down side to the experience was the service after we received the food. It was difficult to catch the attention of passing serving staff to order more drinks. Just felt like after we had the food we were left to our own devices. I appreciate the language barrier didn 't help but we would have appreciated a little attention after the food. Still a good night out though, great for groups or families with kids!
Endroit agréable.Service rapide, nourriture goûteuse.Cocktail le galion trop de rhum ,le parfum de celui-ci passe au dessus des autres composants.Un peu cher pour ce type de restauration.
