Riverside - Charlestown-bellahy

Our group of 9 golfers used Riverside as our base for a week of golf in Sligo, Mayo, and Donegal in late May 2024. It was the ideal location for us. Anthony and Anne are phenomenal chefs. The steak we had on our first night gave us the energy we needed for a windy day at Carne. Our final meal of salmon was the perfect nourishment for our tired bodies before our journey home. Be sure to coordinate with Anthony ahead of time. The breakfast each morning was fresh and tasty. This is the kind of Irish hospitality that people can't stop talking about.

I had great a great experience staying and eating here. The host and chef found the perfect balance of treating us professionally and treating us like family.

A wonderful Guest House with a rich living history. Next to a small river brook, in a town that would benefit from more restaurants (one excellent Chinese! , but is well located for visitors to the west, centrally located for country wide bus transportation, home to several good pubs, and above all filled with warm welcoming people. Anthony, a renowned chef who recently closed his restaurant, serves the most delicious of breakfasts (even kindly accommodating this guest's milk allergy with Parisian level omelets and dairy free scones . When I requested a larger room, I was given a favorite room of my travels a lush comfortable bed, quiet, drawers and closets and lovely design. Flowers abound. And the history of modern Ireland is witnessed on the walls. I cannot say enough good things about Riverside Guest House and its hosts.

Walking into this guesthouse, I knew I was going to enjoy my stay. Situated next to a babbling river, we were easily able to find the location and parking was available up front. Anthony welcomed us in and helped us to our room. In the sitting room, there was a big bouquet from Violet's florist across the street with lilies smelling bright and Christmas-ready. There are paintings and photos and lovely antique furniture lining the halls and you feel welcomed in. The bed was very comfortable and warm. The room was clean and bright and very spacious. The shower had warm water, great water pressure. We were provided suggestions for local sites and places to grab a bite to eat. Anthony's breakfast was exceptional. We were spoiled by offerings of full Irish, fresh fruit, coffee, brown  bread and marmalade. We can't stop talking about the eggs and potatoes. Still!
