Essex Bistro - Chaotte

The lamb kefta was perfect! Lucky, our server, was phenomenal and had a wonderful sense of humor. This gem is a lovely tucked away experience that definitely earned a special place on my “places to eat and things to do” in Charlotte list.

Excellent meals during Queens feast. Highlights on the falafel (could have been slightly less spicy) and cauliflower. Salmon over the churrasco but both were good. Their take on dulce de Leche cake was awesome, the chocolate cake with some gelling agent was less good although the parts that were mousse was great.

Visited during the Queens feast week and had an outstanding experience. Ordered the falafel and cauliflower as starter, salmon and churrasco as entree, and caramel and chocolate cake for dessert. The food was excellent. The falafel sauce was a bit spicy, so be wary if you do not tolerate spicy, but it was in the right levels for me. Cauliflower was perfectly cooked with a hint of sweet. Entrees were spectacular. As a Brazilian, I care a lot about churrasco meat tenderness and flavor and the chef nailed it! The only change I’d do was to add a bit more salt to it, but the sauce and veggies made it all up. Salmon was one of my favorite things to eat, it was cooked to perfection being somewhat crispy on the outside but tender and juicy inside. Both cakes were good for dessert but the chocolate cake had a jelly/gelatinous textured mix that is not my favorite but did not take away from the rest of the piece. The caramel cake was excellent! Perfect quantity, texture, and sweetness. Having a tender blackberry with it definitely made it more special. Absolutely loved this place and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to eat great food.

My fiancé and I ate here during Charlotte Restaurant Week $40pp) and it was EXCELLENT! Lucky was our server, and he was phenomenal. Attentive, kind, and personable. We will be back!

Excellent service by Artem. Polite, friendly and thought of all our needs. Food was delicious, delivered in perfect time and just the right portion size. Loved the Queen's Feast menu. I brought guests who had never dined here before and they loved it. Thanks, Essex for making me look the hero for our uptown lunch and show experience.
