Nestled in a beautifully restored 18th-century stone house and inn, the ambiance is warm and welcoming. The restaurant’s historic charm makes for a unique dining experience. The menu is straightforward, featuring fresh and delicious dishes. The service was exceptionally attentive, with staff displaying a thorough knowledge of the menu. My steak was cooked to perfection, and the cocktails were perfectly balanced. The peach cobbler cheesecake was rich, fruity, and indulgent. I highly recommend dining here, especially for a special occasion or while traveling. It’s a fantastic place to savor delicious food in a distinctive setting.
This tavern has been around since 1822, and that alone is a great reason to visit. However, the food is the real highlight. Everything was of exceptional quality. My personal favorites included the pork belly salad, the risotto served under the crab cake entrée (though the cakes were delicious, I found them a bit lacking in crab), and the steak hoagie. Our food was served promptly, which was a relief since we were quite hungry after a long day of sightseeing. However, the service slowed down afterward, as a group of 20 was seated shortly after us. There was a bit of confusion when our card was processed for the wrong bill, but the server apologized and resolved the issue. The atmosphere had a charming rustic cabin vibe, which I really appreciated – it was the perfect spot to enjoy dinner after visiting Fallingwater.
Everything was fantastic! My husband had the prime rib, my mother enjoyed the crab croquettes, and I had the basil tortellini with scallops. We will definitely return. The food, service, and ambiance were all excellent!
Stone House is a great spot! The portion sizes are generous, and the prices are reasonable. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is served piping hot. The atmosphere is quite unique, set in an old building that has had various owners over the years. Our dining area was somewhat dimly lit, featuring two fireplaces, which added to the charm. Overall, it's a much better choice compared to the other dining options in the area.
I'm not sure how I've lived here for most of my life without ever dining at the Stone House. I've attended countless weddings and showers here, but never had a sit-down dinner—until this weekend. We decided to stop by for dinner, and I was really impressed with the food. I ordered the fettuccini Alfredo with added mushrooms, and my husband had the lasagna, which was enormous! The menu offers a wide variety of options, and the restaurant itself is stunning, housed in a beautifully historic home right on Route 40. Our waitress, Kamber, was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be returning!
