A very special and romantic place well worth a visit. Everything from the service to the food was of the highest standard. The attentive and meticulous staff were fab, the food was delicious and intriguing. My partner enjoyed his vegetarian options on the tasting menu. The decor has been well maintained to make you feel as though you’re in a rustic, dated and totally enthralling manor. We were lucky enough to have made our reservation on the day of our visit however I would highly recommend booking well in advance as a pre booked taxi service is essential to take along the enchanting winding and narrows roads.

We found the bar staff very pretentious and when we arrived we were shown into the lounge area but then were completely ignored while other people gave their food and drink orders. We moved to the terrace and ordered drinks there and waiter tried to order a £25 glass of white for us but my husband sent that one back and ordered another more reasonably priced £14 glass. Very pricey meal £125 each for 3 courses) and my husband thought his beef was tasteless. He told the waiter when we left.

Gidleigh Park fulfils all expectations. Everything has already been said in its praise. We went with one in a wheel chair and one on crutches: the service was amazing, highly attentive but in no way smothering. The sommelier, after he'd realised the mistake of asking my [male] partner to order I was paying was delightful as I carefully chose the cheapest white on the menu. There's class! But you don't get the assumption that the male is paying in London any more do you?

Amazing food, stunning location and fantastic service. We had a fantastic evening it was everything we'd expected. Nothing to fault. Great wine list, good cocktails and unusual disgestifs. Although it's quite formal we felt relaxed and our every whim was attended to. Can't wait to go back well worth the trip to the depths of Devon.
