Da '41 has been here for many years and it has always provided tasty home cooking at a reasonable price. Its menu doesn 't vary from the tried and true and I almost always have the same thing: orrecchieti with eggplant and zucchini. There 's no printed menu; the waitstaff says what 's being done in the kitchen that day and you make your choice. It 's nice to be able to have a mixed grill of meats for a second, or to have the kitchen put together something personalized instead of being limited to a fixed menu. On the downside, 41 has gotten a lot smaller than it used to be. It only seats about 20 or so now. The ambiance leaves something to be desired, as the TV is always on and I find it distracting. The loo is not always totally clean, which always gives me pause. But for the most part, you can eat well, not break the bank, and can count on the good home style cooking that never disappoints.
