This place is the best! I love the breads and sometimes I'll even treat myself to a little baked treat! :)

What a fantastic bakery! You can drive right by and miss it - and evidently my husband has done so as he has visited his sister over the years. Sis lives close by in Winlaw.This is a small family-owned bakery, located on Hwy 6, just off of the Slocan River and the Slocan Valley Rail Trail. Our niece tells us that there is a path so that you can walk up from the trail for a snack.We stopped in after visiting a bakery in nearby Slocan and walking away without finding what we were craving. Wow! Sweet rolls, fresh breads, doughnuts, decadent dark chocolate desserts and even pizza! We each had a sweet roll, I purchased a package for breakfast the following day and I purchased a chocolate raspberry roulade for that evening's dessert. Oh, there goes the diet! I even called and ordered packages of the blueberry sweet rolls to take home to the office staff and our pet sitter. A new MUST stop when we visit Winlaw.Oh - and it wasn't just the baked goods that blew us away - the service was fantastic. The morning that we stopped in found one young woman behind the counter who was seriously hustling to help all of the customers and was still cheerful and even apologized for our wait for beverages (which was not that much of a wait at all).

When driving down the autobahn, we always pass by the Fomis sign without much thought. However, out of curiosity, we finally decided to stop and we are now regulars whenever we are in the area. This family-run bakery and café is cozy and inviting, whether you're sitting down with a coffee and enjoying the view or just grabbing some bread to go. They offer a wide selection of breads and rolls, and the assortment of pastries and desserts is absolutely delicious. It's definitely worth a stop for a quick bite or to indulge in some sweets.

Love all European style pastries. Top-notch and a big reason to visit the slocan valley! come here as often as possible.
