The Kova - Central Dr, Hornchurch

A charming new addition to Staten Island, this brunch spot has a fantastic vibe, lovely decor, and excellent music! The coffee was not only delicious but also beautifully presented, just how I like it. I really appreciated the tasteful utensils and dishes; those details greatly enhance the overall experience. The customer service was outstanding – they truly go the extra mile to ensure you have the best time. For instance, when I found the salad dressing too spicy, they kindly removed it from the bill. My suggestion for improvement would be to give customers a heads-up about the spiciness levels in advance, to avoid similar situations. The potatoes were fantastic, but the egg whites were slightly undercooked. Overall, while there's room for improvement with the food, given that they just opened and are receptive to customer feedback, I’m confident they'll refine their offerings. I will definitely return to try something sweet!

I ordered the Sriracha jam grilled cheese, the pulled chicken sandwich, the fried chicken sandwich, and the chicken roti, along with a side of sweet potato fries. For drinks, we tried both the lavender and hibiscus lemonades, while my mom opted for an Americano coffee, and I enjoyed the Crème Brûlée latte.

KOVA offers a delicious fried chicken sandwich at an excellent price, and I highly recommend trying it if you decide to visit! I haven't dined inside the restaurant yet, but the atmosphere and decor are quite pleasant, and the staff is friendly. However, some of their other dishes could use some improvement. For instance, the spinach and cheese omelette with home fries and the beef roti were only average at best. Both dishes lacked sufficient salt and flavor, although the prices and portion sizes are a great value. While the fried chicken sandwich is outstanding, it alone isn't enough to uplift the overall experience of the other menu items.

The eggs Benedict are perfect, and everything else I've tried has been great too. The restaurant is small and tends to get quite warm when it's busy. They struggle to keep up during peak times, but given the limited space, that’s understandable. If you visit later in the day and steer clear of the crowds, you’ll likely have a much better experience.
