It’s a family restaurant and as such there are kids galore running around. This does not slow down the service or the smiles. The food is solid and decent. A wide variety of grilled meats and fish as well as staple dishes as pasta and pizza. Also they make an awesome Spritz Cynar!
Yesterday evening a group of friends and I went to restaurant Pompei looking forward to a nice relaxed meal. It was not very busy due to it being low season, only about 3 tables of guests. The group of ten of us arrived meeting two other guests and sat down and were not acknowledged at all. We pulled our own tables together and found our own menus which said it had been serving food since 1963, which we later found out that is the year you need to order to get your food served in 2017. The 2 guests that were already there said they had been waiting a while for their food, but when it eventually came the waitress brought it out holding a live dog in the other hand. After about 15 minutes he came and cleared a dirty plate and walked off (the most work we saw him do all night), again not even acknowledging we were there. We called the waiter multiple times before he turned around and came back huffing and puffing, very red faced looking suspiciously intoxicated. Four of us managed to order drinks and five of us managed to order pizza out of the group of ten, but he then decided they were the only orders he wanted to take and wondered off. We waited to see if he was coming back but when we looked for him we found him pulling himself a pint and drinking it behind the bar. The drinks never came so we went up to the bar to collect them. The other remaining guests who needed to order gave up on waiting for the waiter and went up to the bar where they were totally ignored despite the fact there was only them there. Eventually the waiter started taking the order, again walking off mid conversation and served a friend who came into the restaurant. At this point we were discussing whether or not we should leave due to the appalling service. We looked to the kitchen to see if the 5 pizzas that were ordered were being made and we saw the chef preparing them with a cigarette in hand inside the kitchen. Shocked at this, we put money on the table for the 4 drinks that were actually made and then left not wanting to eat pizza al la ash tray. He then woke up and started function yelling and abusing us saying he was going to ring the police, despite the fact we paid for the drinks we were able to drink during our short time at restaurant Pompei. The service here was totally unacceptable and as holiday workers in the area we will not be recommending, in fact, warning people against coming to this restaurant in the future.
We went to this place for dinner... Service was dreadful. For was ok but wife's marine arrived about 20 minutes before the rest of ours. Avoid this place better places to try...
I prezzi?
Camerieri gentili e preparati.
