Trattoria Da Tony - Catania

It’s an authentic restaurant. If you visit Catania, this is a place you must visit. The sea food was on ice, and we could choose what we liked to eat. The fried shrimps were the most delicious food, I had during our holiday in Sicily. I recommend to taste house wine, too. We tried white wine (vino bianco). It’s a little bit strong for me, but if you drink more water, it’d be great.

This restaurant was recommended by the owner of our B B. We had a fantastic fish/seafood dinner the night before somewhere else for 60 euro inclusive. We ordered about half the food we had eaten the night before, it was OK but not as nicely prepared and tasty as the night before. I was presented with a bill for 75 euros and I complained that we only have half the food we ate the night before at Tratatoria Serafina for much less money. The waiter immediately told the owners wife to recalculate the bill. It then came to 52 euro. So be careful if you go here not to over pay.

We just wanted to find a restaurant to have a quick lunch before our flight. We found the Trattoria da Tony and that was much better than we expected. The stuff were really polite, but they speak just very basic English. The menu is Italian and hand-written. But the food! We ordered spaghetti with fruit of the sea, and the waitress who speak a little better English offered the cold appetisers us. We have chosen a cold Caponata (Sicilian eggplant ragout) and it was perfect. The spaghetti was delicious too. The restaurant was almost full with locals, so we just enjoyed the tourist-free mood for the half price like in the center of Catania.

Si mangiano deliziosi piatti di pesce e i prezzi sono onesti. Da provare!

Grande, il cibo e il dolce erano fantastici... Ma non capisco perché ho mangiato meno e pagato lo stesso.
