Razmataz Wine - Catania

Excellent food and very good service. We tried some delicious meals: fenel salad with oranges, gratin potatoes with spinach, sicilian pork sausage and some amazing meatballs cooked on lemon leaves. I have to mention that the corner where is the restaurant is very cosy and nice.

Found this place by chance as they were opening. Saw the extensive wine list and thought I should stop and have a drink. Asked about food and was told “we are just writing the menu as it changes every day”. Music to my ears. So I stayed put and waited for the kitchen to open at 1pm. I had the most delicious pasta dish which was far better than some of the of the restaurants that specialise in pasta. Do not be fooled by the Wine Bar sign…this is a great restaurant with a long wine list!

We spent several hours on a Friday evening sitting outside and watching the world go by. Very relaxed yet fun and buzzy atmosphere. Busy, but not over crowded. Good selection of cocktails but wine was quite limited by the glass. Decent light bites and something to everyone’s taste. The only thing that really let this place down was the service… it was painfully slow. 10-15 mins wait every time. Also, quite a lot of street vendors/ buskers after 7/8pm.

On a very hot day, despite the appeal of being outside the restaurant accommodated us inside where it was cooler. The restaurant/wine bar is charming and the service was very friendly. We had excellent pasta alla Norma, pasta with swordfish and meatballs in lemon leaves, which were just great.

Wow, what a little find on a side street off Via Etnea. During the day they do fabulous antipasti platters and then from 8pm onwards they have a different evening menu, from veal with tuna cream, swordfish, meatballs wrapped in lemon leaves and beef filet cooked with hot oil on a plate. You have to try their croquettes as well. Plenty for pescatarians and vegetarians to try. It was such a wonderful find, filled with locals and the staff made us feel like we were family too.
