Johnny Baker - CASTLEMAINE

Recently in the main part of the city opposite maxi, this place is the best to take a quick coffee and cookies after shopping or on the way out of the city. they have a vegan biscuits (soo good a vegan tar (was delicious, but a bit too cold) and also a cake and 2 cake I have not yet tried! also the coffee is really good here! updated by the previous review on 2022-04-29

A single cake option only, pumpkin and tofu, but delicious

We often go through castlemaine on the way to visit family in central vic, looking for something to eat. it always seems to be a bit of a line up here, but it is still one of the fastest options for a delicious bite. we stopped on Wednesday at 1 o'clock and there was only a vegan cake. I mean, not just a sort, a single cake. it was the green curry tofu. the filling was tasty and satisfying and the baked was super crisp and flaky without making a mess! my man said it was the best vegan cake he ever tasted, but I wouldn't go that far.

The green curry pie was quite tasty, the pastry was crispy and flaky. The arrow and pineapple cake was not good because of the ginger. I really don’t like ginger and it was over powering. My partner liked both, especially the pie. (She is a fan of ginger)
