Mr Pook's Kitchen - Castle Douglas

We've dined at Pook's three times, and each experience has left us utterly impressed. It's a true gem of a restaurant that features authentic, farm-to-table dishes made from locally sourced ingredients, all beautifully prepared with a culinary flair that tantalizes the taste buds. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu; every dish we've tried has been delightful, even though our tastes vary widely. We appreciate that while the atmosphere is polished, it remains casual, with generous portion sizes and fantastic, friendly service from Ed and the team. The open kitchen adds an appealing touch, and it’s always enjoyable to watch the chefs in action. Pook's is simply one of our top picks for a lovely evening out.

Dining at Mr. Pook's Kitchen was an incredible experience! Every dish we ordered was simply outstanding. I must admit, after trying my friend's scallops, I felt a twinge of jealousy, although my crab tortellini was also quite delicious. The ox cheeks I had were a standout and surprisingly generous in portion size. The meat was cooked to perfection—you didn't even need a knife! If you're in the mood for a drink, I highly recommend their gin and tonic variations, especially the bramble and honey combination!

Yesterday evening with my partner here dinner and can honestly say that it was one when the nicest meal I ever had in a restaurant. the starter, head and dessert were all presented on the same and so beautiful. we both had the Ox Books Raviolo, which was lamming, and then I ended up with the chocolate and heaven dessert. the service was also great. many thanks for a beautiful meal, this is the highlight of our holiday so far!

It was lovely! Every course tasted amazing! Had starters, mains and dessert, tasted better than I had imagine, will definitely come back when we come back to Galloway
