Pastelaria Belar - Castelo Branco

We came to Portugal to buy a villa. We arrived early as Remax Estate Agents were on there lunch so we popped next door for a bite to eat. Omg. The food here is amazing!! The salad is so fresh and organic!! Jose has good English and made us feel very welcome with our broken Spanish. The food is amazing with so many different tastes. We will definitely be back. A great welcome to Portugal.

We found this place while visiting Remax in Castelo Branco and we went back time after time and will continue to do so. A husband and Wife team that will turn your taste buds upside down and back to front with their fantastic food. Our aim is to do as much of the menu as we can and those custard tarts are just so yummy its not even funny and should carry an addiction notice on them hahaha she says who had three; at separate time I should add. Jose knows his menu and wife Elaine cooks like a culinary goddess, we are not joking either. We are quite fussy eaters both of us require a clean environment and we were pleased by what we observed of this lovely place. A word of warning though, the toilets in this place are located at the top of some rather steep steps, this is the only down side other than parking but this is Castelo Branco and there never is much parking anyway, however this for us is no problem because the prize of dining here out weighs the cons and the Pros win hands down. Just went randomly in and ordered a coffee and small pastry. The waitress is really polite and able to speak English too. The pastry (small cake) was still warm and fresh and coffee good. The cafe is nicely decorated. It's also a bar, but fancy and nice one. Price wasn't bad either, around 1,80 euros.

Very nice restaurant in the center of Castelo Branco. Delicious cakes, pies, salmon quiches, ovos verdes and very good coffee! All above standard. Very friendly service (English spoken as well) There will be evenings when they serve tapas/petiscos.
