Excellent food and possibilities for music on the side of the Dordogne These gardens were originally created by Josephine Baker to offer a playground for the children who adopted them and who lived in the Chateau des Milandes on the hill above. This place had gone... over many years, but has now received a loving facelift, after Rosemary xxxxx and her husband with the intention of having a music location and an excellent restaurant in this beautiful location. We discovered a music event that took place before the opening of the restaurant for the high season. Dinner was offered on the lawn under trees next to the Dordogne – a wonderful location and a great experience for several of our group of nine who had not visited there before. Food and service were excellent and the music evening was a joy – with Dessert back at our table in the dusk. An unforgettable and special evening. We were sad to leave the area before the restaurant was completely opened.
The gardens were originally designed by Jules Vacherot at the beginning of the XX century. In 2016, the gardens were completely restored, including wonderful watercourses from 1909 drawings. It is a beautiful quiet garden to walk around. 70 birds of prey live in the castle and we were able to observe some of the falcons that showed the predominance of these birds.
Went for family lunch. Spectacular place and lovely atmosphere. Perfect for a coke Ordered lunch. Hamburgers, duck breast and kids menus. Frankly very badly cooked burgers. All was burned. The Bread, the duck and the optaties fried in burned oil. Staff was underpowered and one...waitress quite unfriendly. Sat waiting for desert for app 30 minutes until i was fed up and went to pay with the patron. He apologized for the food. Very friendly patron so i hope he can change the course of this place in little dordogne paradise!
We were so pleasantly surprised that Milandes was so restored and so beautiful! What a great homage to Josephine Baker and her family!
