We didn't get to try the food or even a drink due to being deliberately ignored by the only waiter outside for 25 minutes. Lots of locals who were being seated and served immediately. He clearly didn't like tourists coming which is a shame because it's a great location in a really beautiful area. and was actively not making eye contact and ignoring anything we said. I always try and be respectful and speak Spanish and be polite. I've been in Spain 7 weeks now and this was my first experience of being made to feel very unwelcome. I didn't catch the waiters name but he was the one with a badly tattooed head. The restaurant should be embarrassed by his behaviour. Would definitely NOT recommend this place

We booked a table for lunch and told the staff when we arrived. 20 minutes later we helped ourselves to a take and 15 minutes after that, they cleared it, and asked us if we wanted to eat. They've expanded a lot in the last five years, but the kitchen and the staff numbers haven't increased to match. Food is okay, when it arrives, but service is dire.

Whilst on holiday in the local area and on a trip back from the amazing castle we stopped at the Venta Jarandilla. It was empty when we arrived. The waiter was very pleasant and friendly. We ordered our meals and hoped for a couple of plates of great home cooked food. My partner ordered the meat balls in sauce which tasted really bland and bore a very strong resemblance to those cheap ones purchased from a supermarket. I ordered the eggs, potatoes and chorizo. I was a little disappointed to discover only one fried egg, a very small portion of chips and a decent sized chorizo sausage. This was our worst meal anywhere in a very long time.
