Vernacolo - CASTEL DI LAMA

The journey to find Veracolo was worthwhile as the outdoor tables provided a fine setting. Steak tartare was a good starter and a healthy steak an excellent main course. Service was attentive and cheerful.

I spent a lovely evening with friends (ladies night) and we had the antipasti which were very tasty but not different from other restaurants (cheese, raw ham, salami, olives, and more), we asked for extra veggies. The main dish (that why we came here) was tagliata meat which was more than delicious!!! So tender and so tasty! They als make pizza, but we did not have the chance to try it. For the tagliata I would go back! We had some wine and water, we paid 22 euro per person which is not that expensive in this area.

A pizzeria/pub/restaurant with a definite family friendly atmosphere, this is obviously the place to eat as far as locals are concerned. Worth booking, they managed to squeeze us in as they opened on a Saturday night. One of the best pizzas I've ever tasted.

In fact during our 10 day stay in Castel di Lama we ate here 3 times. Initially as it was open on Sunday evening and recommended we asked our hotel to book a table on our first night, we could not have wished for a better start to the holiday. There is a extensive outside seating area and being on top of the hill a nice breeze on a hot evening provides a very nice place to eat. The locals seem to agree as it was always quite busy, which must be a good sign. The menu is extensive; typical Italian antipasti, prima, secondi and pizzas, wine and if you prefer a wide choice of draught beers. We shared the house antipasti, the amount and variety of food delivered was amazing. We can also vouch for the quality of the pasta and meat courses, the pizzas, and the wine. The service was good and the staff friendly and helpful, we don't speak Italian but did not have any problems. I would not suggest this for a romantic, quiet occasion it is more of a bustling place with lots of families and groups having a really good time.

On top of a hill it is quite hard to reach, but after you get there the view is great taking, the food is great, service exquisite and prices cheap! Great place for pizza, steak, desserts, beer and whatever they have on the menù.
